It is amazing that the second batch of STP at the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) is about to close. And more than amazing is the amount of interest that the participants are developing despite the fact that these [inmates] are supposed to be leaders of the Jesus Is Lord church inside.
It must be the Holy Spirit. He is singing at this particular “bough” (F. W. Boreham’ essay on God’s presence being more analogous to a bird than it is to a candle. When a candle is extinguished, the light goes out. But when the bird is driven away, it only leaves to sing on another bough.).
On Saturday before week 14 there was a disturbance inside leaving two dead and two wounded. As a result, some of inmate participants were not allowed to stay long for the group session. It was not easy to conduct the session after such incident. Nonetheless, those present were particularly helpful during the discussion. Again, all praises to God through Jesus Christ!

Met Vil, his short name, more than three years ago. He presented himself at the NPMP office to discuss with Chair Dr. Rey Taniajuara about Iwahig Penal Colony inmates. Met him again when PFI’s Suzanne Fisher, NPMP director Carlos Castro and I went to Palawan as possible site for medical/dental mission. His passion for Palawan and Iwahig’s inmates were clearly manifested. His heart goes out particularly to those who are yet to know the freedom in Christ Jesus.
NPMP is helping Vil toward reaching a collective effort to address prison ministry in Puerto Princesa. Please include this in your prayer.

It was the first session of the Sycamore Tree Project. Mrs. Pangilinan asked the first question after going through the Sycamore Tree story. Inmate-participants are leaders of Jesus Is Lord Fellowship. “What is your attitude toward your victims before you met Jesus?” (Ano ang pagtingin mo sa iyong biktima bago mo nakilala si Jesus?” Rafael’s response was , “Wala naman akong itinutulak noon. Hindi ako guilty.” (I was not pushing drug at the time of arrest. I am not guilty.) He was asked, “But are you pushing drugs?” (Pero nagtutulak ka?) No reply. He, then, excused himself.
This is how the STP sessions go. Please continue to pray for them and for us.
